Police are investigating after an Inverness primary school pupil was approached by a stranger.
The Drakies Primary pupil was approached by a man believed to be in his 30s while walking on a path linking Drumossie Avenue and MacKenzie Park Gardens on Tuesday, December 9.
The child walked away from the man, who did not make any further attempt to speak to the pupil.
He is then believed to have walked away towards Drumossie Avenue.
Police became involved after the pupil’s parent contacted the school to warn them about the incident.
Officers have been to speak to the family of the child, who was able to provide a comprehensive description of the man.
He was described as white, 30-40 years-old, approximately 5ft 6in and with facial stubble.
He was wearing a black beanie hat; which was covering his eyebrows, a grey round neck T-shirt, a brown zipped jacket and blue jeans.
He was also described as speaking with a strong Scottish accent.
Drakies Primary School has already held assemblies with pupils and a letter with information and support has been issued to parents regarding the matter.
A Police Scotland Community Beats Officer will also be visiting the school to provide further suitable advice.
A spokesman for the force said: “Police Scotland would seek to reassure the public that extensive enquiries have been carried out into the matter and these remain ongoing at this time.
“To date, there are no further reports of the man approaching any other pupils of Drakies Primary School or other children in the immediate vicinity.”
Police would like to speak to the man and would also appeal to anyone who may have any information which can help identify him.
