Highland Council have issued a warning this morning that many roads are being affected by the wintry conditions.
Up to 5ins of snow, combined with widespread frost and black ice is to be found on roads in central Sutherland. Main roads have been treated but smaller roads may be in poor condition, with further snow and ice falling on already icy surfaces.

Highland Council say that all gritters in the area are out on patrol and having to use blades to clear roads.
Similar conditions are also to be found in Lochaber and Wester Ross, where around 2.5 inches of snow has fallen on higher routes.
A fresh covering of snow in some areas of Badenoch and Strathspey is also causing concern, with hard packed snow and frozen slush on most routes.
Ice is the biggest concern in Skye and Lochalsh, southern parts of Sutherland and Easter Ross and Nairn, with gritting patrols ongoing throughout the day.
