The scene of the accident in Inverness city centre
A person has been killed following a crash in Inverness this morning.
The crash occurred this morning around 7.30am on Bridge Street, across from Inverness Townhouse, when a Northern Recycling lorry collided with a pedestrian.
Police are investigating reports that the pedestrian stepped out onto the road and was hit by the lorry which was traveling on Bridge Street towards High Street.
A number of roads have been closed while police carry out their investigations, including Bridge Street at its junction with Bank Street, Castle Wynd and Church Street.
Diversions have been put in place and motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area if possible.
