The driver and crew of the bin lorry involved in the fatal accident in Inverness city centre on Hogmanay are receiving counselling.
The lorry operators Northern Recycling Solutions of Easter Ross today issued a statement for the first time.
A spokeswoman said: “We would like to convey our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
“We confirm that there was a team of three on board the lorry at the time of the collision. They are understandably traumatised and very distressed.
“We have put in place counselling for our driver and his two assistants who were all caught up in this tragedy.
“Police Scotland have advised that a report into the incident will be issued in due course.”
Shocked passers-by and shop workers saw Tony Wallis from Strathpeffer leave the pavement on Bridge Street and go under the rear wheels of the truck. It is understood he died almost immediately.
The refuse lorry stopped about 20ft from where Mr Wallis was lying face-down on Bridge Street.
