An Inverness couple had a lucky escape when a huge tree in their garden fell within inches of their home during last week’s storms.
Murdoch and Rosemary Maclean woke last Friday morning to find the giant tree on its side in their front garden after it fell in hurricane force winds which battered the north.
And the giant is still there now in the garden of the Culduthel Road house, with its branches just inches from the end wall of the house.
But despite the size of the tree, they never heard it come down and the first they knew of it was when they looked out over their garden in the morning.
Rosemary said it was “lucky” that the tree had not caused any serious damage when it fell.
