Police have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses to an alleged attack on a woman in the toilets of an Inverness bar last night.
And a 25-year-old man is being held in custody in connection with the incident.
A police spokesman said they were investigating an incident involving a man and a woman in the upstairs men’s toilet of the Caledonian Bar in the High Street at around 9pm.
He said: “Some time later police were notified of this incident, which involved an attack on the female.
“At that time, officers immediately attended and spoke to all members of the public who were in the bar.
“Due to the passage of time between the incident happening and police being alerted, it is likely that other possible witnesses had left prior to officers attending.”
He said police were urgently appealing for anyone who was in the Caledonian Bar between 8pm and 11pm and witnessed anything, which they consider may be relevant or caused them any concern, to come forward.
Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org
