A82 shut after landslip near Loch Ness beauty spot

The A82 Inverness-Fort William road is shut after a landslip near a well known tourist attraction.

Boulders have fallen onto the trunk road close to Urquhart Castle, meaning that the route, which follows the shores of Loch Ness, is impassable.

A police spokesman said that the route is closed after it was deemed unsafe.

He added that officers and trunk roads contractor Bear Scotland are working to clear the debris.

The only diversion is on the other side of the loch, via the B862 Fort Augustus-Inverness road, via Foyers.
