An incident in Nairn which has left a man with severe burns to his legs is being treated as deliberate.
A police spokesman said that they are “following a positive line of inquiry” into claims that a man was set alight on purpose.
The 34-year-old, named locally as James Shaw, is now receiving treatment at a specialist burns unit in St John’s Hospital in Livingston where he is reported to be in a stable condition.
The incident happened at around 10.44pm on Tuesday in the Tower Court area of the town.
Police have increased patrols around the area to provide reassurance to members of the public.
