Emergency services are at the scene of a three car crash on the A9 Inverness-Perth road.
The trunk road is closed at Daviot, south of Inverness, after a crash at 6.40pm.
Fire crews and paramedics from the city are on scene.
A spokesman for the fire service said that they received reports of a car on fire.
An ambulance spokesman said they expected to take at least one casualty away from the scene.
There was no information on injuries.
A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland are currently dealing with a road collision on the A9 carriageway involving more than one vehicle. The incident is approximately 10 miles south of Inverness.
“At this time the A9 carriageway is closed and inquiries are ongoing into the cause. Needless to say every effort will be made to ensure that the road is opened as soon as possible.”
