A street in Inverness city centre was closed after a man was found injured.
Police were called to View Place in Inverness at around 4.30am on Tuesday.
A 35-year-old man was found injured and taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital.
The road was closed between Castle Street and Castle Road on Tuesday while police carried out investigations.
In the hours that followed, a number of evidence bags could be seen at the bottom end of the hill.
One resident who lives on the street says he is used to noise as it is close to the city centre so slept through the night unaware of any incident.
Another was staying at his girlfriend’s house and returned home on Tuesday morning to find the street cordoned off.
A police spokeswoman said: “Around 4.25am on Tuesday November 1, officers were called to a report of an injured man on View Place, Inverness.
“The 35-year-old was taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital.
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.”
The extent of the man’s injuries are currently unknown.
Police remained on scene for nearly nine hours before the road reopened to traffic at around 1pm.
Traffic in and around the city centre appeared to be relatively unaffected by the closure.
