A police car has had to be craned away after it crashed into parked vehicles on an Inverness car dealer forecourt.
The incident happened around 2.45pm today on Harbour Road in the city at the Park’s Honda dealer.
Emergency services were called to the scene with two fire appliances from Inverness attending.
A police car was involved in the two-vehicle crash and the road was closed.
The male driver of the other car was checked over by paramedics at the scene and police say inquiries into the incident are still ongoing.
It is understood the police car was driving along Harbour Road towards the railway bridge and Millburn Road roundabout before it crashed into parked cars at Park’s Honda.
The vehicles were parked in the company’s forecourt and a flags belonging to the dealer were also hit.
Police car lifted away by crane
Debris from the crash could be seen on the verge and road at the scene.
The air bag was deployed in the police car upon impact and the vehicle had to be removed from the scene by crane.
The road was closed but was reopened around 4pm after the vehicles were removed.
A police spokesman said: “Around 2.45pm on Tuesday, November 8, emergency services were called to Harbour Road, Inverness, following a two car crash involving a police vehicle.
“The male driver of the other car was checked over by paramedics at the scene.
“The road was closed for a short time whilst the cars were cleared off the roadway and was re-opened around 4pm. Inquiries are ongoing into the incident.”
