The main road through the UHI Inverness campus will be closed off for several days over the coming weeks.
Safety improvements and essential maintenance will be carried out from Monday, November 14, until Wednesday, November 16.
The road will reopen before shutting again from Monday, December 5, until Friday, December 9.
Work will involve introducing traffic calming measures along the road to ensure the safety of pedestrians around the campus.
Motorists will still be able to access the main campus from the west, turning left at the campus roundabout, with buses also being rerouted.
While the bus stops at the back of the campus will be out of use due to the closure, pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to pass through.
Works to keep pace with expanding campus
The Inverness campus is growing, and officials are responding to the rapidly changing geography of the new builds and the need for more traffic management measures.
The latest addition to the campus is the £9m Life Sciences Innovation Centre which is located to the east of the main road and is due to open in early 2023. Once complete the new facility is expected to create about 190 new jobs in the Inverness area.
Highland and Islands Enterprise (HIE) has invested more than £6m on active travel and public transport across the campus.
HIE has commissioned Dingwall-based, Strath Civil Engineering to carry out the work over the coming weeks.
Ruaraidh MacNeil, director of business infrastructure at HIE, said: “Anyone using the route is asked to follow the clearly marked diversion route.
“We have been working with Strath Civils to make sure this essential work takes place with minimum interruption.
“We’d like to thank anyone affected for their patience and cooperation.”
