Flights have been cancelled and delayed going from Inverness Airport after debris was found on the runway
The issue was first reported when flight trackers showed a plane from Dublin repeatedly circling the airport.
There were initial reports that there was ‘a hole in the runway’ – but this has been denied by the airport.
The 12.45pm flight to Belfast from Inverness has been cancelled and the 2.30pm flight to Manchester has been delayed indefinitely.
Flybe’s Dublin-Inverness service was due in at Dalcross at 1.45pm but did not land safely until 2.55pm.
A spokesman for Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd (Hial) said: “There was a brief interruption due to debris on the runway but operations are back to normal.”
He could give no further information about the nature of the debris, adding only that it was a small amount.
