Police are hunting a young man who was seen “acting inappropriately” near a primary school in Inverness.
A man, believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, was spotted in the wooded area of the Raigmore housing estate at the weekend.
A dog walker raised the alarm with police after spotting the man’s behaviour at about 12.45pm on Saturday.
The incident happened near Raigmore Primary School, a block of flats and several houses, and near a public path parallel with Old Perth Road.
Today police appealed for information on the incident “regardless of how insignificant it may appear”.
A spokeswoman for the force said that it is believed that the man was on his own and no others were involved.
Residents close to the area where the incident is alleged to have happened said that they had not been aware of the incident and had not noticed much police activity in the area.
However, some said that they were concerned about the possibility of this kind of behaviour happening close to houses.
One said that they had seen a police car in the area on Sunday afternoon but had thought nothing of it.
He said: “It’s dreadful if it did happen. It’s not the kind of thing you like to think about.
“I know that some of the kids go up there to drink but I’ve never heard anything like that.”
The police said that following the initial sighting, the man was seen to leave the woods and walked in the direction of a block of flats on King Duncan’s Road.
He is described as being in his late teens or early 20s, white, of slim build and around 5ft 10in tall.
He was wearing a black tracksuit, a grey hooded top and black trainers with an orange stripe in the back.
The police spokeswoman added: “If anyone has any information, regardless how insignificant it may appear, they are urged to contact police on 101.”
