An Inverness beauty spot has been closed because of public safety fears after flooding.
The Ness Islands were closed after the River Ness rose to its second highest level in 43 years at the weekend, swamping the popular public space.
Highland Council has said that there is believed to be “considerable” damage to trees on the islands.
However, because water levels remain high it has been deemed not safe to inspect and work in the area so the level of damage is yet to be fully assessed.
A spokeswoman for the council said: “Pedestrians and cyclists are requested to heed closure signs for their own safety and are advised to use the nearest alternative route via the Infirmary Bridge until further notice.”
The River Ness 5k fun run had to be rerouted on Sunday because of flooding on the islands.
