Police in Inverness have issued safety warning after teacakes full of pills were found in the Merkinch area of Inverness.
The sinister discovery was made on Tuesday by a member of the public who found the cakes on a grassy area on Old School Place.
The items appeared to have a coloured substance inserted within and were handed in to the police.
Following initial analysis the substance is thought to be blood thinning Warfarin medication, which can be extremely harmful if consumed by anyone to whom it has not been prescribed.
Police urged anyone who has any information on this incident to contact them on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
One theory is that gulls were being targeted by whoever put out the baited cakes.
