Two full scale emergencies were declared at Inverness Airport this afternoon in quick succession.
The first involved a two-engined Citation business jet after a warning light came on as it was coming in to land.
Ambulances, police cars and fire appliances from Inverness and Nairn went to the airport just after 1pm.
The jet landed safely and taxied off the runway, followed by a fire unit.
A spokesman for Inverness Airport said: “As a precaution, and in line with standard procedures, the airport fire service and other emergency service personnel were called to the scene but were not required.”
A police spokeswoman said: “A full emergency response was declared but the aircraft landed safely.”
About one hour after this emergency was called off, emergency services were alerted again to a second light aircraft with two people on board coming in to land at Inverness with engine difficulties.
The pilot of the Cessna 172 aircraft decided not to land and was diverted to RAF Lossiemouth due to a rough running engine.
