Caithness singer Raymond Bremner was among air passengers who breezed through security yesterday afternoon.
Mr Bremner, from Thrumster, organised Melvich Gaelic Choir’s trip to the annual international Pan Celtic Festival in Northern Ireland.
The choir burst into an impromptu song at Inverness Airport shortly before the striking staff left the terminal at midday.
After arriving at Belfast Airport, Mr Bremner said his troupe of singers and musicians had experienced a half-hour delay to their flight – not because of the strike but rather an apparent air traffic control issue.
He said: “Nothing was different today about airport security. It was an absolute doddle despite the strike.
“Every other flight seemed to be taking off in good time.”
Dingwall-born Anita Bauer flew from Inverness to Birmingham last night, en route home to Dusseldorf in Germany after visiting relatives in the Highlands.
She said: “At Inverness the security side of the operation seemed to go quite smoothly.
“It was later the chaos started with the Flybe plane arriving in Inverness 45 minutes late. I think it all started with fog in Manchester.
“But there was no problems that I could see with security.”
