Aberdeen Coastguard scrambled a helicopter to the scene after police alerted them to a walker suffering from hypothermia just before 2pm. The woman had been in the water “for some time” before she managed to drag herself ashore. The lifeboat crew could not reach her on the steep embankment, so the helicopter crew managed to winch her to safety. A coastguard spokesman said: “We responded to a call from police about a despondent walker. “She was suffering hypothermia. “The ambulance were unable to reach her as she was on a steep embankment so the helicopter was called from Inverness to take her away.” The walker has been taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where her condition is described as “stable”.
