Police are urging the public to report misuse of disabled bays in Inverness after five people were fined for unauthorised parking last month.
Officers and traffic wardens are working together to ensure that the 10 disabled parking bays in the city centre are only used by blue badge holders.
Chief Inspector Jennifer MacDonald said: “We appreciate that having a vehicle and being able to park close to shops and facilities can be essential for people with a disability and their families. We welcome and encourage feedback from members of the public, community groups and organisations about the particular areas and spaces they feel are being misused by those without a blue badge.
“This useful information allows police and traffic wardens to draw up patrol plans and take appropriate action. Officers will be working closely with traffic wardens over the next few weeks to help resolve the issues raised.”
“With the city centre attracting a large number of visitors over the summer months we would also seek to remind all drivers to give some thought to where you will park if you’re heading into town and to park responsibly.”
