A cancer charity is literally pushing the boat out to celebrate its 10th birthday in the Highlands with a “once in a lifetime” party on Loch Ness.

It will be an evening to remember as guests of Maggie’s Highlands are served a four-course meal prepared by world-famous chef Albert Roux on board the cruise ship Jacobite Warrior.

The fine diners will then set off on an evening cruise along the world famous loch.

Places are still available for the dinner next Friday, which will see Mr Roux devise mouthwatering starters and the main course, while dessert will be created by award-winning pastry chefs and chocolatiers Will Torrent and Alistair Birt.

The high-class food will be served by front-of-house staff from five-star Gleneagles Hotel who have been drafted in specially for the evening.

Mr Roux is keeping details of the menu secret, apart from promising that the meal would be made from some of the best seasonal local food.

The dinner is to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Maggie’s Highland Centre in the grounds of Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.

Mr Roux has already been involved in Maggie’s birthday celebrations having been a guest of honour at a party at the centre, which has provided support to hundreds of north cancer patients in its first decade.

Andrew Benjamin, fundraising manager at Maggie’s Highlands is promising that the Loch Ness party will be an “unmissable” occasion. He said: “It’s going to be incredible. A meal prepared by one of the world’s best chefs in Albert Roux on Loch Ness, which is, of course, one of the world’s most famous locations.

“We’ve also got two amazing chocolatiers preparing desserts and front of house staff from Gleneagles to serve it.”

The meal will be served on the Jacobite Warrior after a champagne reception on the banks of the loch at Dochgarroch.

The boat will set off on a cruise around the loch during the dessert, which will include a talk with Mr Roux. Mr Benjamin added: “Something like this has never happened before and it might never happen again.

“It’s absolutely a once in a lifetime opportunity and all of the money will go directly to Maggie’s.”

Tickets are £150 per person and include the champagne reception, four-course dinner and wine during the evening.
