The blaze at Ormond Hill, Avoch, started this morning. Several people, including one from Balloch, Inverness, contacted the service after seeing smoke rising from the Black Isle before 11am. Two appliances, one from Fortrose and one from Inverness, are on the scene, using two jets and knapsacks to extinguish the fire. A 4×4 vehicle and the water carrier from Inverness have also attended. A fire service spokeswoman said that the 4×4 was being used because of difficulties accessing the scene.
