A lorry crashed off a busy Highland tourist route this morning, leaving it just feet away from an 30ft drop. The accident happened at around 9.10am on the A82 Inverness-Fort William road, around five miles south of the city at Loch Ness. The lorry was travelling south at the time. The lorry off the road approx half a mile north of the Clansman Hotel on the A82 Inverness to Drumnadrochit road. A police spokeswoman said that the driver was out of the vehicle however there is no information on his injuries. The road was not blocked however traffic was stopped to allow recovery of the lorry. Meanwhile a car has overturned after leaving a road in Shetland. The vehicle was travelling on the A970 at Voe when the incident happened just before 8am. The male driver is out of the car however there is no information about passengers or injuries.
