As Amy Pond on Doctor Who, Karen Gillan has seen her fair share of monsters and mythical creatures.
But now the Inverness actress is monster hunting closer to home by joining the search for Nessie.
The Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy star has lent her vocal talents to an audio guide for tourists taking part in boat trips on Loch Ness hoping to catch a sight of its most famous resident.
From July travellers will hear Miss Gillan recount tales of the loch and introduce the Loch Ness Monster from aboard the popular Jacobite cruiser.
She is joined on the audio commentary by Mr Loch Ness himself – Willie Cameron – as they guide guests down the Caledonian Canal, River Ness and Loch Dochfour and finally out into the expanse of Loch Ness, the largest body of fresh water in Great Britain.
Freda Newton, owner of Loch Ness by Jacobite said: “Karen Gillan is one of Inverness’ most famous and loved exports, like our own Nessie, which makes her the perfect choice to guide our customers along one of Scotland and the UK’s most famous stretches of water.
“We’re all really proud of her success and it’s great to have her on-board.
“We welcome thousands of visitors to the loch and surrounding area every year and have made some significant improvements recently to further enhance our offering to guests from home and abroad.
“Karen’s voice works really well alongside Willie’s for our cruise commentary and we know our guests will enjoy listening to her voice.”
As well as her role as Amy Pond in Doctor Who, Karen has starred alongside Vin Diesel in Guardians of the Galaxy, and is set to appear later this year in the film In a Valley of Violence, alongside John Travolta and Ethan Hawke.
