Highland councillors have agreed to a merger of Inverness Central and Crown community councils.
It will be renamed Inverness Crown and City Centre Community Council.
Councillors also backed a merger of Nairn’s Suburban and West councils.
The mergers featured in a community council review.
As part of the discussions it was also agreed that, in future, community council boundary decisions will be delegated to devolved administrative areas such as area committees.
All community council meetings are in public and local residents are encouraged to attend.
Elections to Highland community councils are held on a four-yearly basis – the next are this November.
Nominations will be sought in August and open to people living in the area aged 16 and over.
