Police in Inverness are appealing for information after a man was attacked near the River Ness.
The “unprovoked assault” happened in the early hours of Sunday morning around 12.50am at Abban Street, in the city-centre.
The man sustained minor injuries and also had his mobile phone stolen.
Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault or who had been walking on the riverside between Greig Street and Abban Street around that time to contact the force.
In particular, officers would like to speak to an Afro-Caribbean man, aged between thirty and forty, who was seen in the area and might have witnessed this incident.
He is described as being of muscular build and was wearing dark clothes and had a holdall type bag.
