Staff at the Highlands’ flagship hospital are making themselves known on a first name basis as part of a social media campaign which aims to improve patient experience.
Health professionals working at the Renal Unit in Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, are embracing the #hellomynameis initiative.
The campaign was started by Dr Kate Granger, a hospital consultant, who wanted to improve patient experience after spending time in hospital following a terminal cancer diagnosis.
Anne Allan, clinical ward manager of the unit which helps patients with kidney problems, said: “We always do what we can to treat our patients with respect and dignity but this campaign has highlighted that even something as simple as giving your name can make such a difference to how they feel.
“All staff in the unit were more than happy to pledge their support to this initiative. The team has great admiration for Dr Kate Granger, who started this campaign, and the marvellous work she has done.”
