Motorists are being warned about possible delays on roads in Inverness tonight as Inverness Caledonian Thistle take on FC Astra Guirgiu in the Europa League.
And ICT management urged fans to arrive early to avoid last minute crush at the turnstiles.
The Romanian team flew into Inverness Airport yesterday ahead of the tie, which kicks off at 7.45am.
The match at Caley Stadium is a sellout and roads around the area are expected to be jam-packed before and after the game.
Now police have issued travel advice to motorists in the area, particularly because of roadworks on a nearby road which threaten to exacerbate the potential for hold-ups.
Work is ongoing on Cromwell Road as part of the River Ness Flood Alleviation Scheme.
A force spokesman said: “Police would advise motorists to expect delays on the approaches to the A9 Kessock Bridge roundabout and in the vicinity of Longman Road near to the stadium between 6.45pm and 8pm and then again between 9.30pm and 10pm.
“There is currently three-way traffic control due to roadworks in the Longman area which may cause additional delays.”
Those travelling to the game are advised to set off early and allow plenty of time for the journey. Motorists are also reminded to prepare for delays and be mindful that there will be pedestrians crossing roads on their way to the match as the grounds open at 6.45pm.
A club spokesman said: “Given the expected attendance levels, please allow additional time for travel, parking and entry to the match.
“This is a request which is regularly and repeatedly ignored by many. It is not physically possible for us to get thousands of fans through the turnstiles in time for kick-off if the bulk of fans arrive just 15-20 minutes beforehand.”
