Inverness Caledonian Thistle have launched legal moves to remove an encampment of travellers from ground near their stadium on the eve of the new season.
Around 12 caravans and various vans and cars have pulled up on rough land beside the club’s home car park at the Caledonian Stadium on Stadium Road.
Solicitors for the club went to the local Sheriff Court on Wednesday seeking a court order to have the travellers moved on, and this granted yesterday. .
The club are due to host Motherwell in the opening game of the league season tomorrow.
Club chairman Kenny Cameron said: “We applied for a court order to have them removed prior to Saturday’s home game as the travellers had moved on to the overflow car park area despite it being locked fast.
“That was granted today and papers served by the sheriff’s officer at lunchtime give the travellers until Friday morning to challenge the order. If not the officers will be on site tomorrow afternoon to evict them and hopefully that will be that.”
