Police are appealing for information after an “altercation” at a canal-side beauty spot.
The incident involved a man and a woman in the Muirtown Basin area of Inverness near the Caledonian Canal.
The incident happened between 5.30am and 6.15am on Thursday.
A police spokeswoman said: “Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at that time who witnessed the incident and in particular, would like to speak to a cyclist who was seen crossing the canal before making his way onto the Clachnaharry Road around this time.
“The man involved in the incident is described as being of slim build, wearing dark clothing and had blonde hair. If you have any information please call Police Scotland on 101.”
