Police are continuing to look for a man who approached a group of children playing in an Inverness park.
The incident happened on Monday at around 11.30am in Bellfield Park near the city centre.
North area policing commander Julian Innes said the approach was “not normal” and urged the man to come forward to give police an “understanding” of what happened.
The man is described as Asian, in his mid-50s to 60s and of average build. He was wearing a blue cap and grey suit at the time.
Chief Superintendent Innes said: “There was an approach made to a child in Bellfield Park, whose mother was there.
“It was in a public place, there were other women in the area as well, so we don’t think we are dealing with something that would class as a child abduction or anything like that.
“But we need to do is find this person and speak to him and try and understand why that type of behaviour took place.
“It’s the type of activity that I would suggest is not normal. You wouldn’t expect a normal member of the public to be involved with a child in these kind of circumstances and not arouse suspicion by the parents.
“The mother did exactly the right thing in calling the police. We’re very keen to identify the individual and that point we can understand what took place.
“It may be that the person is vulnerable themselves but they caused alarm and we need to deal with that to make sure that doesn’t happen again.
“I think the description is quite detailed and somebody will know who that person is.
“The fact that they are in Bellfield Park suggests that they are local to Inverness.”
