Emergency services were called to the Port of Inverness after the fall was reported at 2.20pm yesterday. A police spokeswoman said last night that the man, who is in his 40s, suffered suspected head injuries in the fall. He was taken to Raigmore Hospital in the city by ambulance after being recovered from the boat. Police said last night that the extent of the casualty’s injuries were unknown. Firefighters from the city were also called to the scene, and provided “manpower” according to a spokesman. It is understood that the man fell onto Barbados registered cargo vessel the Wilson Caen while working in the area. It is believed that the man is an employee of the Ellon based firm William Whyte Cargo Handling. Last night the company said that it couldn’t comment on the incident but said that health and safety investigators were travelling to the harbour.
