The car caught fire on the A96 Inverness to Aberdeen road, near the turn-off to Stoneyfield Business Park just before 3.30pm. A fire crew from Inverness were called to extinguish the blaze, using breathing equipment and a hosereel jet. A spokesman for the service said that the car’s engine bay was “well alight” when the crew arrived. The fire was brought under control 4pm. Nobody was injured and the busy trunk road remained open to traffic while the incident was dealt with.
