A hazard of driving tour coaches on some Skye roads became evident when this vehicle became jammed on a tight hairpin bend on a twisty stretch of road in the far north of the island.
It was about three hours before the bus was freed at The Quiraing near Brogaig, on an unclassified route just off the A855.
Eye witness and local filmmaker Marc Smith said: “We were having our lunch and spotted the bus coming round the corner. As it approached the bend we thought ‘no way’.
“I think the reason the coach driver had to take it tighter than normal was because there was a parked car in her path, right in front of her.
“Soon afterwards the bus door opened and all the passengers stepped off supposedly to make the bus lighter.”
The coach, which had UK registration plates, was thought to have originated from Edinburgh.
It is understood that it was ultimately pulled free by an island recovery team.
Only last week, police had highlighted parking problems at some of the Skye’s most popular tourist spots – The Quiraing and the Fairy Pools, further west – after reports of visitors leaving vehicles parked illegally in passing places or on verges.
Officers had posted messages on Twitter. One warned: “If your car causes an obstruction it may be towed away.”
