Extra average speed cameras are to be installed while the A9 dualling works are carried out. Transport Scotland has confirmed that the existing average speed camera will not be used to monitor traffic during the work. Instead, four mobile cameras will be used to to limit traffic going through the roadworks. The speed limit will be decided by the contractors and the police. A similar system is to be used on all of the 12 sections which are currently single carriageway. The controversial average speed camera system went live on the road between Inverness and Dunblane in October last year.
