The trunk route has been closed in both directions between Latheron and Latheronwhee following the collision at 6.48pm. Three fire crews – from Wick, Lybster and Dunbeath – were sent to the scene, where crews released one casualty from a van. A spokeswoman said: “Three further casualties were out prior to us arriving.” Police said those involved have been taken to hospital to be checked over. There are understood to be no life threatening injuries. The vehicles are waiting to be recovered.
