A 15-year-old school pupil has helped raise more than £1,000 to help Syrian refugees with a fundraiser on the Black Isle.
The Black Isle Hears Syria concert was organised by teenager Abigail Millar Todd at St Andrews Church in Fortrose.
A total of £943 was raised on Sunday evening at the event and further donations have since raised the total past £1,000.
Millar Todd said: “I am very moved by the plight of all those affected by the current situation in Syria, and wanted to do as much as I could to help.
“I’m astonished by the generosity of all those who donated and I’m grateful to everyone who took part and turned up”.
The event was attended by MSP Dave Thompson, who said: “The worldwide community spirit shown by St Andrews Church in hosting the concert to raise money for those caught up in the Syrian refugee crisis is to be applauded and is an event I was most delighted to attend.
“The event itself raised £943 which is a fantastic sum and I am told that a kind soul has since donated more to take the tally to the benchmark figure of £1000, which is great news.
“I thoroughly enjoyed the concert and in particular, I would like to pay tribute to Abigail who organised the event and everyone else who gave up their time to make the evening such a roaring success.”
