With two goals in his first three matches, Miles Storey has quickly settled into life as a Caley Thistle player.
The on-loan Swindon Town attacker reckons that may be down to the similarities between Caley Jags manager John Hughes and his former Swindon Town chief Paolo Di Canio.
Hughes and Di Canio were room-mates during their time at Celtic during the mid-1990s and Storey sees similarities in their management styles.
He said: “He is quite similar to Paolo Di Canio but, as a player, I think discipline is important and I like that.
“If there is no discipline in a dressing-room then things start to waver. I like the way John Hughes goes about his business.
“Like Di Canio he also makes us work hard in training. It’s very intense. When you get home after a day’s training you really feel it.
“It means the boys are really fit and I think it will shine through at the end of games.
“I’m enjoying it. The manager has told me to go out and express myself and it’s great to have that support behind me.
“It means if something doesn’t quite work then there will be no shouting at me or anything like that, which is a breath of fresh air.
“It’s been easy to settle in because of that and I’m also getting a lot of help from the boys on and off the pitch.”
Storey is looking forward to having a crack at Scottish Premiership leaders Aberdeen on Saturday.
The Dons travel to the Caledonian Stadium looking to extend their league winning run to nine matches.
The Englishman is expecting a difficult encounter and knows his side will have to pay close attention to former Caley Thistle player Adam Rooney, who he played alongside at The Robins, if they are to end the Dons’ perfect start to the season.
He said: “It will be a tough game against Aberdeen because they’re flying but there is no reason why we can’t pull off a result.
“It will be good to see where we stand when we come up against them.
“I know Adam Rooney well because he was at Swindon with me. I used to be on the bench when he was playing there. It will be good to catch up with him after the game.
“He has been on fire since he’s been at Aberdeen but he’s a goalscorer – and he never misses a penalty.
“He’s strong, holds the ball up well and he’s dangerous in the box, so we will have to deal with that on Saturday.”
