Plans for 20-home expansion of a residential development at Kiltarlity near Beauly will be considered by councillors next week.
Ark Estates wants permission for a third phase of a housing development on part of the site of the former Balgate Sawmill.
The latest party of the scheme would feature 16 semi-detached, three-bedroom properties and a complex with four one-bedroom units.
The site is to the north of Pine Road.
Planning permission has previously been granted for a phased residential development of the site.
The first phase of 24 properties is nearing completion.
The second phase, involving 17 homes in a mix of semi-detached and terraces, is yet to start.
The latest proposal has been referred to Highland Council’s south area planning committee because of an objection from Kiltarlity Community Council.
Members are concerned about a change in house type and subsequent alteration to the number of properties envisaged, compared with an original agreed layout.
One neighbour has also objected, claiming there will be a loss of amenity during construction.
The resident said that noise levels during phase 1 were “intolerable” and the new development would cause of a loss of privacy.
The committee meets in Inverness tomorrow.
Planning officers have recommended that the application is approved.
