Malfunctioning traffic lights at a major Inverness junction caused traffic delays yesterday for the second time in a week.
The signals on the Raigmore Interchange, which links the A9 Inverness to Perth and the A96 Inverness to Aberdeen roads, became stuck on red once again during rush hour.
The same set of traffic lights jammed on the same day last week, one hour later than they did yesterday.
Motorists took to social media to vent their frustrations about the queues on Millburn Road.
Bus company Stagecoach also stated online that bus services in the city centre experienced delays of up to 15 minutes during the congestion.
The traffic lights only activate at peak times to allow southbound traffic access from the A9 onto the interchange.
A spokeswoman from BEAR Scotland, which manages the lights, said: “We were notified of a fault in the part-time traffic signals at Raigmore Roundabout around 4.10pm.
“We deployed our Trunk Road Incident Support Service team to inspect the site, who in turn contacted an electrical engineer who switched the lights off. “We are currently liaising with our specialist subcontractor to inspect the signals on Thursday and address any faults.”
