An Inverness window cleaner has admitted stalking his ex-wife by obtaining CCTV footage of her when she was out in a bar.
Joseph Foy admitted stalking his former partner when he appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.
The 42-year-old went to two bars in the city and asked staff if he could view their CCTV to see if his wife Jacqueline was in the premises, and then contacted his mother-in-law to tell her had recorded the images on his mobile phone.
The court heard the offence happened after the couple’s “acrimonious end to their marriage”.
Fiscal depute Stewart MacIver told the court: “The wife was at the time residing with her mother who was taking responsibility for making child access arrangements.
“Foy went to two Inverness bars and asked staff to access their CCTV system to ascertain if his wife was in the premises with a certain person.
“He apparently worked as an entertainer in Lauders Bar and he was allowed to view it there. But Deanos in Academy Street refused his request.
“He wanted to record the images on his mobile phone. He then contacted his wife’s mother and told her that he had the images.
“The mother told her daughter on January 14 and this caused her concern because she felt she was being spied upon by him. She went to the police and made a complaint.”
Sheriff Margaret Neilson heard Foy, of 34 Murray Terrace, Inverness, was previously sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid work earlier this year another offence involving his wife.
One of the cases involved him admitting culpable and reckless conduct which endangered her life by driving off while she was leaning into his van.
Sentence was deferred for background reports until November 26.
