Thousands of people are gearing up for a night of spectacular light shows as the country marks Guy Fawkes night.
Scores of fireworks displays are being held across the north of Scotland to celebrate the loudest night of the year.
In Inverness, the crowds are expected to turn out at Bught Park tomorrow night, where there will be the annual grand bonfire and fireworks show from 7.30pm.
The carnival will also be in town, as Hornes Funfair pitch up at the park, which opens from 5pm.
Across in Nairn, there will be a bonfire and live music at the Shine Festival of Light at the academy playing fields from 6.30pm.
In Dornoch, there’s a torchlight procession from The Square at 6.30pm while the bonfire and fireworks display will take place in The Meadows.
Other attractions include a visit from Hercher’s Funfair and refreshments.
In Moray, the sky will light up over Spynie Palace, Elgin from 7pm.
On Saturday, things will heat up at Elgin’s Cooper Park when the bonfire is lit at 6.30pm – the display will start at 7pm.
And in Forres, it will be boom or bust in Grant Park from 6.30pm, with the first firework expected to soar into the sky at 7pm.
Both events have been organised by the local rotary club.
Meanwhile, the fire and rescue service are preparing for their busiest night of the year.
Fire crews are on average 40% busier on November 5 than any other night of the year.
David Rout, the fire service’s senior officer for Moray and Aberdeenshire, said: “We want everyone to be able to celebrate on November 5 and have fun but in a safe way that doesn’t require the attendance of the emergency services. My message is simple, be safe not sorry.
“When our crews are called to attend bonfires it means we have to divert resources away from other emergencies and life-threatening calls – that could end tragically for anyone who truly needs our urgent help.”
