Hundreds of Inverness homes hit by powercut

Hundreds of homes in Inverness have been hit by a powercut this afternoon.

People living in the IV2 postcode area were worst affected by the blackout which started at around 3.40pm.

Engineers are en route to the scene and Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) say they hope to have power restored around 5pm.

SSE apologised on Twitter, saying: “We’re sorry for the power cut affecting the Inverness area.

“Engineers are en route to locate and repair the fault. Updates to follow.”
