A technical problem on board a Loganair flight to Inverness led to it turning back to Manchester.
No-one was injured in the incident.
The Saab 2000 returned to Manchester after an onboard alert and alternative arrangements were made to take the 29 passengers to the Highland capital.
A spokesman for the airline said: “Flight BE6976 departed Manchester on Friday at 4.30pm for Inverness with 29 passengers and three crew on board.
“Shortly after take-off, the captain received a caution indication from the aircraft’s systems and, as a precaution, elected to return to Manchester and declared a May Day.
“Passengers were briefed ahead of the landing.
“The aircraft landed safely at 5.25pm and was met by emergency services, as is standard procedure.
“Arrangements were made to take the passengers to Inverness on Friday night.”
