A 27-year-old thief who fled from police over a rooftop and then escaped through an alleyway on Boxing Day last year is set for more unpaid work after he completes his current batch.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Kristopher McBeath has still to complete two community payback orders involving work in the community when he appeared for sentence yesterday after the preparation of a background report.
Sheriff Margaret Neilson initially wanted to impose another 265 hours on the unemployed Nairn man, but decided to defer sentence until January 21 next year when McBeath should have completed all his hours.
She told him: “If you complete the orders successfully, I will impose another as an alternative to custody.”
Defence lawyer Marc Dickson told the Sheriff that “there has been a dawn of realisation that he can’t continue with this lifestyle.
“The report is positive. He has made much progress and is co-operating fully with his outstanding orders and has attended all his meetings. He has also remained abstinent and I am not aware of any other matters outstanding.”
