It was supposed to have happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
But it turns out some of the scenes for the new Star Wars film were shot a lot closer to home.
A few months ago, as production of the latest blockbuster Episode VII: The Force Awakens was coming to an end, rumours were rife that at least some filming had taken place in Scotland.
And now, it seems the rumours were right – and Scotland is set for another movie tourism boom.
Reports say that Scotland was among a list of locations for the blockbuster that also includes Ireland, Abu Dhabi and the USA.
In an online article, Star Wars: The Force – Everything you need to know? film magazine Empire has listed Scotland among the UK and international locations used.
The article does not say where in Scotland filming was done – but this picture looks suspiciously like Urquhart Castle on the banks of Loch Ness.
The article reads: “Shooting has taken place in the UK at Pinewood Studios, at RAF Greenham Common, and in Scotland. Three days shooting took place at Skellig Michael Island off the coast of Ireland’s County Kerry, and there have also been locations in Abu Dhabi, New Mexico, and the Krafla volcano in Iceland. Plus there’s been some work underway at Abrams’ Bad Robot facility in Santa Monica.”
Other major productions, such as Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, have been shot on Skye while Sam Mende’s Bond flick Skyfall was partly shot in Glen Coe.
Film director Justin Kurzel also chose the Isle of Skye as the main filming location for his new and much-anticipated film Macbeth, starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard.
The Star Wars film will be released in cinemas later this month – who knows, maybe they will rename the franchise Star Dores in honour of its Ness-side connection.
May the Foyers be with you.
