An Inverness man was jailed for four months at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday after admitting being drunk in charge of a car while five times over the legal limit.
Sentence had earlier been deferred for a background report on 39-year-old Simon Aird, 39, of 83 Kessock Avenue.
He had admitted being drunk in charge of an Audi S3 in Lochalsh Road on July 9 with 111mcgs of alcohol per 100 mls of breath. The legal limit is 22mcgs. He also admitted committing the offence while on bail.
At the hearing in November, Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood was told after the incident Aird had been banned from driving for another road traffic offence.
He also admitted previous road traffic offences which had incurred other disqualifications from driving.
Depute Fiscal Stewart Maciver said police received a tip off and found a clearly intoxicated Aird in the stationary car with the engine running.
Sheriff Fleetwood also disqualified Aird from driving for five years.
