Police are hunting two men with Liverpool accents after a broad daylight robbery near a busy Inverness Street.
The female victim was using a lane between Fairfield Road and Lilac Grove on Thursday between 3pm and 3.30pm – around the time of the school run.
The woman, who has not been named and did not wish to talk about her ordeal publicly, was approached by two men as she walked down the public lane.
The 35-year-old told police how she was assaulted by the men and had a sum of money in the low three figures taken.
One of the men was described as 6ft 3ins, wearing a grey baseball cap and grey tracksuit. The other man was believed to be dressed in black. Both the men spoke with Liverpool accents.
The woman did not require medical attention as a result of the incident.
Yesterday, police officers carried out meticulous searches in the area of the alleged incident, a narrow lane used regularly by locals travelling to and from the city centre and in and out of Dalniegh.
Police will be conducting house-to-house inquiries in the Fairfield and Dalneigh areas over the weekend.
In a statement, police said: “If anyone has any information about the incident they are encouraged to contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at
