Almost 200 schoolchildren were locked in their primary school after a major gas leak shut down a Highland village.
Police urged locals to stay indoors as a stench of gas hung in the air for several miles in and around Muir of Ord where it is understood a gas main was ruptured during work on a new railway bridge.
Several fire engines, six police cars and gas engineers descended on the Ross-shire village after a gas main was ruptured.
The nearby Tarradale Primary School was instructed to keep its pupils in the premises until the leak had been repaired.
The all-clear has since been given and roadblocks lifted.
