Police have confirmed that there were no injuries after a car hit a bridge at a Black Isle beauty spot.
The force said that a vehicle, with four people inside, collided with the bridge on the A832 Cromarty road at the Fairy Glen, Rosemarkie, on Friday night.
Highland Council confirmed that specialist repair work was likely to be required at the site.
Almost an entire section of the stonework fell from the road onto the Fairy Glen path below, following the impact.
A local authority spokeswoman said: “The council is about to complete pedestrian and vehicle safety measures.
“Traffic management measures will be in place within the next 48 hours.
“We are assessing the extent of the damage, which is likely to require a specialist repair.”
A police spokesman said: “At around 9.05pm on Friday 19 February 2016, police in Dingwall received a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A832.
“Whilst travelling west, a car with four occupants was involved in a collision with a bridge on the A832 near Rosemarkie. There was no reported injuries to the driver or anyone else within the vehicle.
“The local authority was made aware of damage caused to the bridge.”
The bridge was repaired in 2011 at a cost of £300,000 after being damaged by weather.
